Thailand is about to witness a significant transformation in the world of content creation with the unveiling of Cloud 11, a groundbreaking mixed-use project in Bangkok’s South Sukhumvit district.
Developed by MQDC, Cloud 11 aims to be the largest hub for content creators in Asia, valued at over 40 billion Thai baht. Spanning a gross floor area of 254,000 square meters, Cloud 11 is an innovative, sustainable building featuring creative office and studio spaces, hybrid retail, smart and lifestyle hotels, education and cultural zones, and Bangkok’s largest rooftop park.
Beauty and Sustainability at the Forefront
Cloud 11 was designed with sustainability in mind, focusing on environmental, social, and economic aspects. Bangkok currently has only 7 sqm of green space per capita, significantly lower than other Asian cities. By providing a vast public green space, Cloud 11 aspires to be a prominent green hub and give more green space back to the city. The project also takes responsibility for its environmental impact, with the building’s construction designed around a 100-year-old banyan tree to preserve it. Cloud 11’s water distribution canal is another testament to the project’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
The aesthetics of Cloud 11 is not compromised in its pursuit of environmental sustainability. The building’s unique cut-out design, incorporating the vast green common space, serves both goals. The 3-layer concept of the building was inspired by the area’s tenement houses, skywalk, and skyline, offering spaces for activities, sports, and creativity. The building’s size was carefully considered to ensure natural light reaches every part of the area, allowing guests to enjoy panoramic views in a bright and comfortable space.
Construction of Cloud 11 began in 2022, with piling and foundation work already completed. Building construction is currently in progress, and it is anticipated that Cloud 11 will open in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Empowering Creators
Cloud 11’s “Empowering Creators” concept adheres to its social sustainability objective. As technology evolves, content creators play a more prominent role in driving the entertainment industry and promoting Thailand’s soft power. Cloud 11 is more than just a mixed-use property project; it is a hub for content creators to showcase their work and collaborate. The project aims to facilitate content creation by providing creator funds, talent, studio spaces, and state-of-the-art equipment.
Cloud 11 will provide a network for existing and future businesses, creating new spaces and increasing biodiversity. The innovative architectural project aims to become Asia’s leading creator economy hub and elevate the entertainment industry through technology. Cloud 11 also intends to support local businesses and contribute to local economic development.
Bottom line
Cloud 11, with its focus on environmental, economic, and social sustainability, is set to become a unique, innovative, and inspiring landmark in Bangkok. It aims to empower content creators and contribute to the local economy while promoting sustainability. With its anticipated opening in 2024, Cloud 11 is poised to revolutionize the creator economy landscape in Asia and inspire other real estate developers in Bangkok to embrace sustainable practices.
