One of Thailand’s leading integrated lifestyle real estate groups, Asset World Corp (AWC), is set to launch a series of new developments in Chiang Mai, similar to its flagship Asiatique open-air mall in Bangkok.
Wallapa Traisorat, AWC’s CEO and President, announced that the Lannatique project, which celebrates the arts, crafts, and culture of the region, will be developed in four stages in Chiang Mai.
The company plans to build a total of 12 projects on a 100-rai plot of land stretching from Chang Klan Road to the Sridonchai location. This development aims to create a lifestyle destination that appeals to both Thai and international visitors. AWC has already opened four hotels on the site, including the Melia Hotel, Dusit D2 Hotel, InterContinental Hotel Chiang Mai Mae Ping, and Le Meridien Chiang Mai. In addition, the Kalare market and Anusarn entertainment market are already operational.
AWC has several upcoming developments, including Ancient House, a luxury boutique hotel; The Plaza, a beauty clinic and upscale hotel; and the Ban K Sirin and Siem Pakdee hotels. The company is also investing 800 million baht in the renovation of the landmark Pantip Lifestyle Hub, which is set to launch in the third quarter of this year.
The Pantip Lifestyle Hub, located in the prime business and tourist area of Chang Khlan Road near the Ping River and the Night Bazaar, has been transformed under the “every happiness for everyone” concept. It boasts a variety of fun activities, a food lounge, renowned restaurants, and lifestyle markets catering to the whole family.
Covering a total area of 13,000 sq m, the hub has been developed into three main experiences: the 3,800-square-metre attraction area featuring learning centres, playgrounds, fitness centres, and a health and beauty centre; the food lounge area showcasing popular dishes from well-known restaurants available on leading delivery platforms; and the lifestyle market, a gathering space for communities and partners to create experiences and programmes targeted at various interest groups, such as organic product enthusiasts, arts and crafts aficionados, and home decorating and gardening devotees.
Mrs Wallapa believes that Chiang Mai, with its diverse offerings, will become a lifestyle destination that international tourists cannot miss when visiting Thailand. However, she acknowledged that due to the ongoing problem of PM2.5 pollution in Chiang Mai, some customers have postponed their hotel bookings. The recovery of hotels in Chiang Mai has been slower than expected, as the dust problem persists and Chinese travellers have not yet fully returned to Thailand.
Nevertheless, Mrs Wallapa stated that Chiang Mai’s business owners are working collaboratively to find long-term solutions to the issue, and they remain optimistic that the upcoming rainy season will help improve the situation.
On April 10, 2023, AWC officially launched the Pantip Lifestyle Hub in Chiang Mai, aiming to create a “lifestyle experience” to cater to all customer groups, lifestyles, and generations in one location. This 13,000-square-metre hub, situated in the prime area of Chang Khlan Road, will operate with a focus on sustainable development that benefits both the environment and the local community.
The Pantip Lifestyle Hub offers three key experiences: attractions, such as learning centres, playgrounds, fitness centres, and a health and beauty centre; the food lounge, featuring iconic menus from renowned restaurants; and the lifestyle market, a space for gatherings, initiatives, and experiences aimed at various interest groups.
AWC is confident that the Pantip Lifestyle Hub, combined with the four AWC hotels in the Chang Khlan area, will boost Chiang Mai’s tourism industry, overall economy, and competitiveness, attracting tourists from around the world. The project also aligns with the company’s sustainability strategy, driving Thailand towards becoming a sustainable global tourism destination.
